Where It’s Located:

Located 30 minutes from the Liberia airport and 4 hours from the San Jose airport, Playa Hermosa is a popular beach to visit to see the Gulf of Papagayo. Located in the Guanacaste province, it’s close to a number of other beaches including Playa Panamá, Playa del Coco, and Playa Ocotal.

What to Do:

Playa Hermosa is a great place to scuba dive, snorkel, jet ski, relax at the beach, or check out the nightlife at other close beaches such as Playa del Coco. You can walk along the beach although the coastline is not that long. Be sure to bring beach shoes or tennis shoes if you want to climb over rocks to walk further along the coastline. There are many companies right on the beach that will offer to take you out snorkeling, jet skiing or on a boat ride. Additionally, a number of people have massage tables on the beach allowing you to enjoy an ocean side massage. There also are a few restaurants right on the beach allowing you to enjoy a meal while watching the ocean.

What to Wear:

The weather is warm at Playa Hermosa so plan accordingly. You are at the beach so a bathing suit is highly recommended! Beach shoes are also a good idea if you want to hike through the rocks that lie at each end of the beach. There are a lot of bugs in Playa Hermosa (especially during the rainy season (May – November)) so make sure to bring bug spray.
