The town of La Fortuna lies at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano you see in the photo, and the surrounding area is all  jungles, mountains, farmlands, and the Arenal Lake.

What to Do: From La Fortuna you can explore the majestic Arenal Volcano, Lake Arena, La Fortuna Falls National Park, and Arenal National park and the jungle areas surrounding them. If you’re looking for adventure, the area offers horseback riding, boat tours, jeep rides, zip-lines, hanging bridges, white-water rafting hiking, and more. For a more relaxing day, settle in to one of the many geo-thermal hot springs, go on a local coffee tour, or sample the many great dining options in town. With so many things to see and do, La Fortuna and the surrounding Arenal area are a great destination to add to your Costa Rica travels.

What to Wear: Being in the central valley, the La Fortuna area can get hot and humid, and even in the drier months there is always a chance of rain. Our recommendation is plan for the heat, but be ready with pants and close toed shoes with good support, as some excursions in the jungle will require them. Also, weather here changes fast.
